A short novel about a man who returns to the Sussex lane he grew up on and remembers a summer he had put away. There was a pond his friend Lettie called an ocean, something very old that got into the world, and three women on a farm who stood between it and him.

Neil Gaiman is the British author of American Gods, Coraline and Sandman. This is his most autobiographical book and it won Book of the Year at the British National Book Awards.
